The Renault Sport F1 team are preparing to hold a filming day on Friday 6 May at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, and anyone can come along and soak up the action, as admission to the event will be absolutely free.
Under FIA rules teams are authorised to complete two days of filming a year, as long as they do not go over the 100km limit, so Renault are perfectly within their rights to hold the event, which will see current drivers Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer in attendance behind the wheel of the RS16, with other Renault Sport cars on track during the day.
Gates open at 8.45am, with track activity scheduled to run from 9am to 5pm. Acress around the circuit for public, will be restricted to the International Pits Straight and Main Entrance areas.
After a troublesome start to the season so far, the French squad finally saw things come together at the 2016 Russian Grand Prix with an excellent seventh place finish for Magnussen, who had started the race from way back in seventeenth position on the grid. The Dane has gone well at the Sochi Autodrom track on every visit he has made to the Black Sea circuit so far, having finished fifth when driving for the McLaren F1 team back in 2014, and bagging a first and second place on both occasions when competing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2012 and 2013. Last weekend’s effort also earned Magnussen the driver of the day award.
The squad is now hoping to continue in the same vein as they head to the Spanish Grand Prix, in two weeks’ time.
