Lynn to join post-Spanish GP test with Williams

1 Mins read

Williams Martini Racing has announced that Alex Lynn will participate in the post-Spanish Grand Prix test with the team.

The British racer will take to the track on the opening day of the two-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya, the week following the race at the same circuit, with regular race driver Felipe Massa taking over for the final day.

It will be the second year in succession that Lynn takes to the track at the Circuit de Catalunya with Williams, having run 52 laps of the circuit in finishing fifth on the final day of the 2015 in-season test.

Lynn is dovetailing his role as Williams Development Driver in 2016 with a second season with the DAMS team in the GP2 Series, and is one of the pre-season championship favourites having remained with the team he performed strongly with during the 2015 season, including two race victories in Spain and Hungary.

Lynn is the second reserve driver to be confirmed for the test, with the Renault Sport F1 team having already confirmed Esteban Ocon will share the driving duties with regular driver Kevin Magnussen.

The Sauber F1 Team have already withdrawn from the test, citing a lack of new parts and a lack of a young driver to participate in the two-day in-season test.
