Phil Keen joins Barwell’s Blancpain GT squad

1 Mins read

Barwell Motorsport has announced a revised line-up for one of their Pro-Am Lamborghini Huracan GT3s as British GT Championship regular Phil Keen replaces Marco Attard in the line-up for the second round of Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Silverstone.

Keen will race alongside Leo Machitski and Marco Mapelli in the #78 Vimetco Extrusion sponsored Huracan for the second part of the Blancpain GT Series British double-header which started last weekend with the Sprint Cup at Brands Hatch.

The team took the decision to replace Attard with Keen after their experience of the highly competitive Pro-Am category in the Endurance Cup at Monza. Team members at Barwell felt that two Bronze drivers and one Pro driver was not the right line-up to challenge for success.

It meant Attard generously agreed to step down for the Silverstone round, and potentially the next round in the south of France at Paul Ricard in June. However, the former British GT champion will return at the Spa 24 Hours where he’ll join up with Machitski, Mapelli and sportscar ace Tom Kimber-Smith for the jewel in the Blancpain crown.

While there has been a reshuffle in one entry, with two Pros and one Am now occupying the #78, the second Barwell Motorsport entry – the MP Motorsport Huracan of Mark Poole, Richard Abra and Joe Osborne will retain the same line-up. The crew scored points at Monza and have scored podiums in the event in previous years so will be hoping that run of form can continue this weekend.
