It was a somewhat disappointing tenth place and final points scoring position for Felipe Massa at the 2016 Monaco Grand Prix just over a week ago, and although they managed to scrape though with a solitary point, the Williams Martini Racing team will have hoped for a stronger performance on the streets of Monte-Carlo.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has proved a strong track for the Oxfordshire based squad in the past however, and Massa is hopeful of repeating that form again in 2016, and finally bringing more of a challenge to their rivals.

“The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a track where you need to have good speed because you have that long straight. I would say in the last two years we’ve done really well in Canada. I think we’ve had a competitive car so I really hope we can repeat that performance again this year.

“It’s a place I really enjoy going. It’s a really nice town where everyone goes completely crazy for Formula One. I think this is due to the history of Canadian drivers, like Gilles Villeneuve and Jacques Villeneuve.

“I hope we can have a competitive race there and maybe even fight for the podium. “

The layout of the Montreal track should really suit the characteristics of the FW38, and so we could be about to see Williams return to the form they appeared to have lost in the last couple of races, at the Canadian Grand Prix. We could even see them fighting for position with the Scuderia Ferrari and Red Bull Racing squads once again.
