Nico Rosberg: “I think our Silver Arrow is still definitely the best package”

Following two disappointing weekends in Monaco and Canada, Nico Rosberg was back with a vengeance in Azerbaijan, taking a dominant victory for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS squad on the streets of Baku, and swinging the momentum back in his favour.

“Baku was a good weekend for me. I really felt at one with the car, so that’s a big positive looking ahead to the next races. Now we go to Austria, which has been a real strength for us as a team in the past two years.”

The German has won the last two grand prix in a row at the Spielberg circuit, and is hoping to make it a hatrick of victories at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, a challenge Rosberg relishes.

“It’ll be tough against the Williams cars in particular, as they’ve pushed us hard there before. But I think our Silver Arrow is still definitely the best package on the grid and I can’t wait to see what it can do in Spielberg.

“To have two wins from two races at any track is pretty special, so if I could make it three in three that would be awesome.”

Despite the German team easily leading the way in the title race this season, the current championship leader is well aware that their main rivals have been able to get close to them at some of the tracks visited this season. Rosberg believes however, with the superior package of the Mercedes W07 underneath him, it will be possible for them to win out again in Austria, especially if he can qualify strongly and get off to a good start in the race.

“It’s a short run to the first corner there and generally my starts and first corners have been strong this season, so if I can qualify well there’s a good chance of a top result. I’m looking forward to the weekend.”
