Tom Sharp returned his stunning IDL Racing machine to the front of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB grid with a podium in the eighth race of the year, at Croft.
Two fantastic qualifying results of third and second for the opening and closing races respectively, meant Sharp looked set to capitalise on the difficulties of his rivals such as Dan Cammish.
However, all of the good work was undone when a robust defensive move by Jonas Gelzinis forced Sharp off the road at the start of race one. He recovered well to finish eighth, with a severely hobbled car.
Sharp got the result he deserved with a supreme third in the slippery final encounter, and the hope now is that success will breed further success when the series returns to action at Snetterton.
Reflecting on the weekend in Yorkshire, Sharp concluded, “The second race was always going to be a tricky one. On the outside for the rolling start, I was always going to lose out at the first corner, but luckily we slotted into third and was able to keep in the podium positions throughout, which I am pleased about.”
Sharp will join a plethora of his championship rivals for a one off outing in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup event at Silverstone and a full preview of the event will be available on The Checkered Flag next week.
