Santino Ferrucci will have his first outing in a Formula 1 car when he participates in the post-British Grand Prix test at Silverstone next week with the Haas F1 Team.

The young American has been called up with neither Romain Grosjean or Esteban Gutierrez allowed to run in the test due to teams requiring young drivers to run on at least two of the four allotted in-season test days in 2016.

“Becoming a Formula 1 driver is my ultimate goal and I can’t thank Haas F1 Team enough for this opportunity,” said Ferrucci.

“Nothing beats seat time, and the experience of driving a Formula 1 car and working with Haas F1 Team will be invaluable.”

Ferrucci was signed by Haas as a development driver earlier this season, and will become the second young driver to run with the team at Silverstone, with Ferrari Driver Academy star Charles Leclerc running his first free practice session with the team on Friday.

Ferrucci is currently racing in the GP3 Series with the French-based DAMS team, and has a best finish of tenth so far at the Red Bull Ring last weekend, having stepped up from racing in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship with Mucke Motorsport in 2015.
