Kimi Raikkonen concluded the post-British Grand Prix test at Silverstone with the fastest time of the day on Wednesday, with the Finn setting a time of 1:30.665 amid a total of 103 laps.

The Scuderia Ferrari driver overhauled the morning time set by the Mercedes of Esteban Ocon during the afternoon’s running, with Raikkonen insisting the team are still seeking performance from their SF16-H after a disappointing result at the British Grand Prix last weekend, with the Finn over a minute off the pace in fifth with team-mate Sebastian Vettel down in ninth.

Raikkonen insists the team are still seeking improvements to bring them to the front of the field, and that they won’t give up in their quest to beat Mercedes and Red Bull Racing on track.

“We’ve been doing our normal testing work, trying different things,” said Raikkonen, who took over driving duties from test driver Charles Leclerc on Wednesday. “We’ve tried to find good things. We always expect more as a team in terms of results.

“That’s Ferrari: we want to win and keep working. Then we will see what happens. We believe we can still win and we don’t want to give up, but improve.”
