Williams Martini Racing were hampered by the rain in the afternoon but had a productive morning on the day one of testing at Silverstone.

Development driver Alex Lynn set the third fastest time with a 1:34.433, showing a great turn of speed and consistency, with Lynn describing the first day of testing as productive, even if he felt compromised by the weather.

“I think we had a really productive morning,” said the British driver. “We got a lot done, collected a lot of interesting data for the team and completed many laps on the medium compound tyre.

“It was a shame I didn’t get to try out the soft tyre because the car felt really nice in the high-speed sections on the mediums.”

The weather was a setback for Williams but Lynn performed well in the morning gathering valuable data for the team. Valtteri Bottas will drive the Williams Mercedes for the second day giving the British team more development work and to test new components on the car.

Driving for DAMS in the GP2 Series, Lynn will use these tests to try and impress the team as Felipe Massa’s seat looks under threat with much speculation in the paddock that Massa could lose his seat.
