Kimi Raikkonen ended the final day of the post-British Grand Prix test at Silverstone on top, with the Scuderia Ferrari driver’s afternoon time dislodging the time of morning pacesetter Esteban Ocon.

For the second day at Silverstone, rain affected the running, but unlike on day one, the track dried to enable drivers to improve their lap times, and it was Raikkonen who took the fastest lap with a time of 1:30.665, which was more than half a second faster than Ocon’s time in the morning of 1:31.212 for Mercedes.

Ocon was the busiest driver on Wednesday, with the 2015 GP3 Series champion completing 139 laps, while five other drivers also broke through the 100-lap barrier.

Pierre Gasly ended both the morning and afternoon sessions in third place, with his time late in the day of 1:31.429 his fastest of the test in the Red Bull Racing RB12.

Nikita Mazepin enjoyed his second day in the Sahara Force India and setting the fourth fastest time, 0.896 seconds behind Raikkonen, while Stoffel Vandoorne was fifth for McLaren-Honda, a further 0.203 seconds adrift of the teenage Russian.

Valtteri Bottas was sixth for Williams Martini Racing, while another teenager, Santino Ferrucci, was seventh for Haas on his second day in the car, finishing ahead of Renault Sport F1’s Jolyon Palmer.

Sergio Sette Câmara had his first taste of Formula 1 machinery and finished ninth fastest for Scuderia Toro Rosso, while Jordan King completed the least amount of laps of the day with 70 for Manor Racing, ending up tenth and last of the drivers running 2016 machinery.

Bottom of the time sheets was Pascal Wehrlein, who continued his 2017 Pirelli tyre test in a 2014 Mercedes, with the German completing 128 laps of the circuit with a best time of 1:36.162.
