Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo is in a positive mood ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, after finishing on the podium and taking a strong second place in Belgium, a fantastic result at a track the Milton Keynes based squad did not expect to go well at.

A huge fan of the Italian culture, Ricciardo looks forward to being able to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the local cuisine, whenever he visits the country’s shores.

“We are straight in to Italy after Spa. It has the best pizza place in the world, it’s ridiculous and I love it.”

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is one that the Australian loves to drive, with plenty of overtaking opportunities on offer, the 27-year-old is likely to be in the thick of any action, which is just how he likes it!

“The fans in Italy are cool too, they are crazy about racing and extremely passionate. I like the track through the park, racing there is good and there are plenty of overtaking opportunities.”

The northern Milan circuit is another track that will not necessarily play to the strengths of the RB12, where they could struggle on the long straights, but Ricciardo did manage to surge through the field to finish in eighth place during last year’s race, having started towards the back of the grid, so you can never rule the Australian out, whatever situation he finds himself in!

The Milton Keynes based squad will be hoping to pull further clear of chief rivals Scuderia Ferrari and cement second place in the Constructor’s Championship, with a good result in Italy this weekend.
