Williams Martini Racing driver Valtteri Bottas is looking forward to a stronger performance at the Italian Grand Prix this coming weekend, after finishing behind both Sahara Force India drivers, and the McLaren-Honda of Fernando Alonso in Spa, a result the Finn felt the squad should really have been able to better.
This Sunday the F1 fraternity will arrive in northern Milan, Italy at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, a circuit steeped in history and one that Bottas always enjoys visiting, for its unique and special vibe.
“The Italian Grand Prix is always a really special race weekend. The fans are really passionate and it’s a high speed circuit with low downforce, therefore racing is always very good in Monza.
“The weather is fantastic as well, so all in all it’s just a great race weekend with nice fans and an amazing track.
“I also get to drive there from my home in Monaco – it’s about a three hour drive – so one flight less for the year! A nice way to mark the end of the European races.”
Williams finished third and fourth during the 2015 race, and the Finn, who was pipped to the bottom step by team-mate Felipe Massa last time out, will be hoping to make it onto the podium this time around.
The Oxfordshire based team meanwhile will be hoping to score some good points at Monza, in a bid to regain some momentum in the latter half of the season, and improve upon what has been a poor start for them, by last year’s standards.
