Bumper entry list confirmed for RallyRACC – Rally de Espana 2016

1 Mins read

The entry list for the upcoming RallyRACC – Rally de Espana has been released and will see a total of 70 crews take on the 52nd running of the Spanish classic.

The main news from the list is that Citroën have confirmed they will be running three cars for Kris Meeke, Craig Breen and Khalid Al-Qassimi. This will mark Meeke’s sixth appearance for this season as the French manufacturer concentrate their efforts on the 2017 WRC programme which will be led by the Northern Irishman.

Also making a welcome return is the Czech privateer Martin Prokop who was last seen at Rally Italia Sardegna when he was penalised for infringing regulations about transmission sealing. The five minute penalty was later lifted after Prokop’s Jipocar team proved they had not broken the rules.

The usual suspects are on the entry list with Volkswagen fielding three entires, M-Sport with two cars, DMACK’s entry for Ott Tänak and FWRT team with Lorenzo Bertelli.

Hyundai will see four i20’s in action with Kevin Abbring getting behind the wheel of a 2015-spec i20 WRC alongside the three New Generation i20’s. Henning Solberg also joins the WRC field again with a privately entered Ford Fiesta RS WRC.

In WRC2 there will be a total of 19 crews, including the front running Skoda Fabia’s for Teemu Suninen, Armin Kemer and Pontus Tidemand. Privateer Eamonn Boland returns with co-driver Mick Morrissey in their Ford Fiesta R5.

WRC3 will see six crews battle it out for the honours led by Michel Fabre in his Citroën DS3 and Italians Fabio Andolfi and Damiano De Tommaso in their Peugeot 208’s.

Spain will also see the end of the road for the Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy which has seen Osian Pryce and Max Vatanen locked in a head to head battle throughout the season. Eight other crews will join them in the identical Ford Fiesta R2’s including Jon Armstrong and Gus Greensmith.
