Daniil Kvyat: “I pushed until the very last centimetre”

Daniil Kvyat admitted to enjoying himself during the Singapore Grand Prix and was happy to return to the points for only the third time since his return to the Scuderia Toro Rosso team, but felt a better result could have been possible on Sunday.

The Russian finished ninth, but felt he was faster than Sergio Perez ahead of him but was unable to get passed due to the lack of straight-line speed in comparison to the Force India driver.

After good on track battles with the Mexican as well as Max Verstappen, the man who replaced him at Red Bull Racing earlier this season, Kvyat felt he pushed as hard as he could throughout the race in Singapore.

“I think I did the most I could out there today – I had good fun and enjoyed some great battles!” said Kvyat. “Unfortunately, after a first good stint things didn’t come together as expected… we ended up behind Perez and didn’t have enough straight-line speed to overtake him.

“I pushed until the very last centimetre and left my soul on the track – it’s a shame, but I’m happy to finish in the points again. In all fairness, the team did a good job after what’s been a tough period.”
