Daniil Kvyat had a much more positive day as he finished inside the top ten in both free practice sessions at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Friday.

The young Russian has endured a number of tough races in recent times, but finished a positive eighth in first practice before following that up with tenth in the second as he and his Scuderia Toro Rosso team experimented with various set-ups on both STR11’s.

Kvyat is hopeful that the top ten pace on Friday can correspond to a much needed good result that should work wonders for his confidence, which has been apparently lacking ever since he was demoted from Red Bull Racing ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix in May.

“We tried many things today and I think it was a stimulating Friday,” said Kvyat. “We will now try and learn as much as we can for tomorrow and try to maximize the potential which I feel we’ve got here.

“I think we can be strong and I’m happy to see that we are looking more competitive than in previous races. Obviously we need to keep working hard, but I’m ready for it!”
