Manor’s Dave Ryan: “A night race always sounds pretty challenging”

Dave Ryan believes it’s a real pleasure for Formula 1 to race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore.

Manor Racing had a disappointing Italian Grand Prix after their weekend saw mechanical issues suffered by both Pascal Wehrlein and Esteban Ocon. Wehrlein was unable to see the chequered flag on Sunday after these problems forced him to retire from the Grand Prix, while Ocon had issues in both practice and qualifying.

The Singapore Grand Prix is known as the night race for the 2016 Formula 1, even though teams are working during the night, Ryan believes there are more pros about the weekend than cons.

“There are worse places to be working nights, that’s for sure!” said Ryan. “A night race always sounds pretty challenging.

“By the time we’ve flown in and got stuck into the preparation, it’s not so difficult to adjust to being on European timings. The lighting system is truly excellent and at a track as impressive as this, in such a fantastic city, there are way too many pros to think about cons. What they’ve done with this race is incredible for the sport and the fans and it’s a real pleasure to be racing here.”
