Østberg makes it 100 WRC starts at Tour de Corse

1 Mins read

Mads Østberg will make his one-hundredth start in the FIA World Rally Championship at the 2016 Tour de Corse – Rallye de France.

Østberg, who made his WRC début at the 2006 Swedish Rally, driving a Subaru Impreza WRC, is now in his second stint with the M-Sport World Rally Team.

The Norwegian becomes the twenty-sixth World Rally driver in history to achieve 100 rally starts despite claiming his only WRC victory in Portugal 2012, driving for the factory Citroën WRC team.

However, Østberg’s second place in Sweden 2011, which was the first of his sixteen podiums that remains his greatest WRC memory.

Østberg told WRC.com “Sweden has always felt like my home rally and even though I have done a couple of Rally Norways, it’s probably my favourite rally of the year.

“My best result before that was sixth in Portugal and to be fighting for the win in Sweden was fantastic”

The 2012 Rally Portugal-winner added to WRC.com about his plans for the 2017 World Rally season.

“We are in negotiations with a few different teams and I feel it’s going quite well. It’s never easy to know at this point of the year what might happen next year, but I’m very positive that we will find a good solution and that I can be in a good team.”
