Solberg Looking For Every Advantage in World RX of Spain

1 Mins read

Since taking the points lead after the World RX of Canada, Double FIA World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg has had to work hard to keep his advantage in the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship and he is looking for every advantage he can get in Spain this weekend.

After a monster effort from his PSRX team saw the Citroen DS3 repaired and ready for the World RX of France, Solberg rewarded their hard work by challenging with fastest lap times over the weekend as well as another epic drive in Q4 that witnessed two joker laps after a jump start and the second fastest time. Armed with more speed in his Citroen, the 2003 WRC Champion is looking good for this weekend.

After extending his lead in France, the Norwegian driver has found a way to relax before heading to the World RX of Spain:

“Golf’s a good way to relax,” said Solberg. “I hadn’t played since 2012 though, so I was a bit rusty. We were playing with our sponsors near to Stockholm and everything was good: the sun was shining and I was relaxing. But then I got the same competitive urge – I wanted to win again!”

However, after declaring at the start of the year that he knew he was up against some strong opposition this season, Solberg’s focus remains clear and unchanged:

“Winning is everything to this team, but what’s the real focus – and I’ll say it again – is winning at the end of the year; the big win, the World Championship win,” explains Solberg. “We go to Barcelona in good shape, with more improvements in the car and ready for some more action.

“I like the track in Barcelona and it’s a really nice place – the fans and the atmosphere is so cool. And we won the first ever World RX of Barcelona there last year, standing on top of the podium on Sunday afternoon would be just perfect for me and my team.”
