Wehrlein eager for more competitive Sepang weekend

Pascal Wehrlein is hoping for a better time this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit than he did two weeks ago in Singapore after Manor Racing endured a tough, less competitive outing at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The faster and more flowing nature of the Malaysian Grand Prix track this weekend should suit the team better, and although with Wehrlein knowing that the conditions will make it tough, he feels they should not struggle as much at Sepang as in Singapore as the team battle to retain their position in the championship ahead of Sauber.

“I’m certainly hoping for better things than in Singapore,” said Wehrlein. “That was a great venue and I enjoyed every bit of the experience, especially the night race factor, but it was not such a good weekend for our package.

“This race has seen very high temperatures and humidity levels in the past. It’s going to be tough, even with the change to a later slot in the calendar, but the fast and flowing circuits give us a better starting point.

“Plus, the wet tyre testing I had last week will probably come in handy here!”
