Cyril Abiteboul believes things at Renault Sport Formula 1 Team are moving in the right direction both on track and off.

The Enstone based outfit had a relatively good Japanese Grand Prix with Jolyon Palmer finishing in twelfth and team-mate Kevin Magnussen in fourteenth. These positions meant Renault finished at the Suzuka International Racing Course ahead of McLaren Honda Formula 1 Team.

A result that Managing Director Abiteboul believes is positive for the team as they are ready to take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way.

“We might not have scored points in the Japanese Grand Prix,” said Abiteboul. “But our upward trajectory continued.

“On pure pace alone we were able to overtake and outrace Toro Rosso and McLaren while we were fighting with Williams for the race duration. It’s very positive to see we can genuinely mix it in the midfield and that we are there, ready to take advantage of any opportunity.”

There are now four races left on the 2016 Formula 1 calendar, with teams heading to the United States Grand Prix this weekend. Abiteboul believes the team are entering these races in a positive frame of mind.

“We are now entering the final four races of the year in a positive frame of mind,” added Abiteboul. “Things are moving in the right direction on track and off track our plans are beginning to take shape as well.”
