After a disappointing result at the Japanese Grand Prix, Jenson Button is hopeful of a good result at the United States Grand Prix.

The McLaren Honda Formula 1 Team driver had a tough race at the Suzuka International Racing Course after he only managed to climb four places, finishing the race in eighteenth. His potential was limited after he incurred a penalty after the team elected to change his power unit.

The Circuit of the Americas is a favourite among the drivers with the circuit including a bit of everything for them to experience. Button believes with these features, teams need a car with good balance, a characteristic that he feels is a strength of their car.

“COTA is one of the few anti-clockwise circuits on the calendar, and has a bit of everything: fast corners, slow corners and heavy braking zones,” said Button. “So you need a car with good balance, which tends to be one of the strengths of our car.

“There’s lots of fast, sweeping corners in the first sector, the long straight in the second sector, and then the infield section in the final sector which is tight and twisty with long apexes and high g-forces. You really need to prepare the car for everything! For a driver it’s great fun and I hope we enjoy a better result there than in Suzuka.”
