Max Verstappen is looking for another visit to the podium as the Formula 1 circus arrives at the Circuit of the Americas for the United States Grand Prix.

The Dutchman finished second last time out in Japan, and the Red Bull Racing driver is looking forward to his second race outing at COTA, the first of which gave him a fourth place finish in 2015 while driving for Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Verstappen feels the COTA track is ‘cool to drive’ and feels more like an old school circuit than many of the recent additions to the Formula 1 calendar, albeit with more run-off areas.

“The COTA track is very special, it’s a new track but with a lot of old school corners in it (but with more run off) which makes it really cool to drive,” said Verstappen.

“Turn 1 has such a big radius it gives a lot of overtaking opportunities, and then the whole of the first sector has the S’s, it’s a bit like Silverstone or Suzuka. It is a really fun circuit to race.”

Verstappen is also ready to experience the American culture once more, feeling the welcome he received in previous years made him feel relaxed.

“I had a good look around Austin last year and really liked it, I love America in general, the people are so friendly and I always feel comfortable and relaxed there,” said Verstappen. “Burgers and meat, it is so good there.

“I will probably have to be a bit careful to watch my weight as you can eat so well in Austin. I am sure I will find time for a nice steak though.”
