Eric Boullier believes McLaren Honda Formula 1 Team needs to keep fighting hard to get the best out of their package ahead of the United States Grand Prix this weekend.

The Woking based outfit had a tough Japanese Grand Prix with both drivers failing to reach the top ten, with Fernando Alonso seeing the chequered flag in sixteenth and Jenson Button in eighteenth. Alonso struggled with his pace, losing a position on his starting position.

Button had a push back after the team elected to change his power unit, leading to the Brit incurring a penalty. This position limited his potential and was only able to climb four places up the grid. These results were not what McLaren were hoping for at Suzuka.

McLaren are very pleased to be returning to Austin this weekend as they always receive a very warm welcome from the fans. Boullier hopes the team can provide some great racing at the Circuit of the Americas.

“It’s no secret that we didn’t achieve the results we were looking for at Suzuka,” said Boullier. “The Circuit of The Americas is a very different challenge in its configuration, so we hope we’ll be able to see improved performance there.

“However, we mustn’t be complacent, and instead keep fighting hard as we have been all year to get the best out of our package and its strengths as we head into the final back-to-back races of the season. Everyone at McLaren-Honda is very pleased to be returning to Austin for the United States Grand Prix.

“We always receive a very warm welcome from the Austinites and the US is a very important market for us to bring our show to every season. I hope we can provide more great racing for the crowd again this year and give our fans something to be proud of.”
