Paddon looking forward to 2016 Rally Catalunya

1 Mins read

Hayden Paddon is looking forward to being back on the loose gravel surface at the 2016 Rally Catalunya – Rally de España.

The #20 Hyundai Mobis World Rally Team driver goes back to the site of his first World Rally Championship stage win in 2014. Last year, Paddon finished at Rally Catalunya in sixth on the only mixed surface rally of the WRC season.

Paddon will be looking to build on the momentum in Corsica last time out as the Kiwi looks to strengthen his hold in the Drivers’ Standings for fourth place, ahead of Volkswagen’s Jari-Matti Latvala in fifth.

Paddon said “Rally de España is one of my favourite events on the calendar. I like that it is a mixed surface rally, which requires a different approach to the weekend.

“I am a big fan of the gravel stages. It’s been a long time since Finland, so I’m looking forward to getting back on the loose stuff.

“We want to be strong on those opening gravel stages so we can build up some momentum and stand ourselves in good stead for the tarmac surface that follows. I’m hopeful we can have a positive weekend.”
