This weekend sees Formula One’s return to Japan, with the Suzuka track being a firm favourite amongst drivers. Williams’ Valterri Bottas is no exception.

When quizzed about the track, the Finnish driver replied that: “If I had to choose one track as my favourite, it would have to be Suzuka because of the high speed nature of the circuit.”

Suzuka has a unique figure of eight layout, as well as being narrow with very little run off, making it a real challenge for the drivers – something that they all seem to relish. Bottas commented that: “It’s a proper race track really built for Formula One cars. On top of that, the atmosphere is very special.”

Suzuka also always sees some highly dedicated fans, which could be said to rival the Tifosi in terms of support for the drivers, including Bottas, “The Japanese fans get so excited about the race. There’s a lot of support for me there, which I really appreciate.

“It’s always nice to go to Japan, it’s a favourite for a lot of people because it’s such a great track and overall a great weekend with a really good atmosphere – one I always look forward to.”
