Esteban Gutierrez completed his final race with the Haas F1 Team with a twelfth place finish at the Yas Marina Circuit, and thanked the team, Team Owner Gene Haas and Team Principal Guenther Steiner for allowing him the opportunity to race for them in their maiden Formula 1 season.
The Mexican ended up without a top ten finish during the season – he finished eleventh on no fewer than five occasions – but was proud to help the team grow into a competitive outfit, and Gutierrez has wished the team luck as they continue with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen in 2017.
“I’m very happy to have worked with everyone on this team,” said Gutierrez. “I really did my best to give them my best performance and the best of myself today. Hopefully, this leaves them all with a great memory.
“It’s been very nice and I’ve been very grateful to work with Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner. I was proud to be with the team, which started from scratch, and to be a part of the project through the season.
“Big thank you to my crew, my engineers and mechanics. I wish the whole team all the best for the future.”
