Scuderia Ferrari have not been able to emulate the success they enjoyed during 2015 season throughout this year, and not only this, but will find themselves finishing in third place in the Constructors Championship behind Mercedes AMG Petronas and Red Bull Racing.
However, going into the final race of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, driver Sebastian Vettel appears to be positive about the performance of the team, despite not achieving the results that he wanted.
“It’s the last race of the season and I think the most positive thing we can draw from this year is the experience we lived as a team,” commented the four-time World Champion. “We were often criticized but I don’t think criticism was always justified.”
Even though the 2015 season was more successful than this year, with three wins for the team, Vettel believes that the car has been better throughout this year.
“We remained very committed throughout, despite not achieving what we wanted to, due to various reasons and circumstances. This year’s car was a big step from last year, and I think our performance was better than results show,” he said.
The German is now looking to the future, with regards to the regulation shake up and tyre changes the sport will be experiencing.
“Now our target for next year is quite clear, we have to be ready with the project in view of many regulation changes. If I should name a special moment in 2016, I would recall the podium finish at Monza. We’ve had a difficult season but seeing that the Tifosi still believe in us was a big boost for everyone.”
