1 Mins read

2016 FIA World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier recently took the exciting opportunity to try some World RX machinery after joining 2016 FIA World Rallycross Champion Mattias Ekstrom and his EKSRX outfit at a media event held at Munnich Airport.

The four time FIA WRC champion, who secured the Wales Rally GB win last weekend driving for the all conquering Volkswagen Motorsport team, has already visited the World RX paddock this season in Hockenheim and expressed an interest in testing one of the EKSRX squad’s Audi S1 Quattro Supercars which have taken Ekstrom to four wins in this years series and currently sees the squad leading the FIA World Rallycross Teams Championship.

The French driver was pleasantly surprised with the Audi Supercar compared to his usual mount,The Volkswagen Polo R WRC and described the Audi as “It was so much fun trying this beast!”

Ekstrom explained that he gave Ogier the opportunity to drive the World RX Supercar car as a present for his championship winning performance this season.

“It was a great pleasure to share my Audi S1 Quattro with Seb,” said the World RX champion. “After he became World Rally Champion, I was thinking about a nice present for him, and what’s better for a race driver than trying a superb race car.”

The Final round of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship takes place at the Rosario circuit in November where the EKSRX team are looking to seal their first ever Teams Championship. they currently have a 17 point lead over rivals Team Peugeot-Hansen with 54 points left to score.
