Valtteri Bottas has responded to the career-ending comments aired by Anthony Hamilton earlier this week. And the Finn can’t be too worried about having Lewis Hamilton as his partner, telling the Finnish media, “I wouldn’t ever want to be my team-mate.”
“Let’s see; the season starts soon and we’ll see how it goes.”
Hamilton Senior warned Bottas that the year ahead would be tough as his son is still to reach his prime. “Anybody who goes up against Lewis needs to have planned their career correctly because it could be a career-ending move when you go up against Lewis,” he said.
“I personally think, while he’s getting older and more mature, he’s still actually heading towards the prime of his career. So Lewis is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year.”
Bottas joined Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team following Nico Rosberg’s shock retirement, on what is thought to be a year-long contract. Hamilton and Rosberg infamously shared a strained relationship that at times spilled over onto the track. But harmony amongst the ranks may still be a pipe dream as both of Mercedes’ 2017 drivers will have something to prove: Hamilton following his narrow defeat last year, and Bottas to prove he is worthy of the seat.
