Callum Pointon has a championship challenge in his sights as he joins the returning HHC Motorsport for the 2017 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup.
Pointon stepped up to the Supercup last season with Total Control Racing, with regular top six finishes including a breakthrough podium at Silverstone.
The 23 year old had previously been a front-runner in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, finishing third overall in the standings in 2015.
Pointon’s entry confirms HHC’s return to the Supercup, with the 2014 champions having sat out last year to focus on their other commitments.
It was previously announced that Pointon intended to step up to British GT with HHC this year, but team owner Charlie Kemp has confirmed those plans are on hold until 2018.
“Our initial plan was to do British GT with Callum but due to its oversubscribed grid and the fact Callum felt he had unfinished business with Supercup we have decided to continue his development as a driver on the 2017 grid,” said Kemp.
“We have put our original team of mechanics and engineers back together that took the championship with Charlie Robinson in 2014. The aim is for Callum to be in the championship hunt in 2017.”
