Brake issues compromise Ocon’s first Albert Park Practice outing

Esteban Ocon suffered an infuriating start to the weekend as a problem with his brakes reduced the amount of time he had out on the Albert Park track.

Despite the delayed start, the Frenchman found his stride during the afternoon session and managed to complete a total of 60 laps. Unfortunately he was unable to better his time of 1:26.145 during the second practice and ended thirteenth fastest.

The Sahara Force India team will be scouring the data that both drivers gathered through the night in hope of finding an extra tenth or two for qualifying tomorrow; the team only have the third practice session in the morning to finalise the set-up of the cars.

“I didn’t have the best start to the day with a brake issue causing a delayed start to my running, but the afternoon was easier and I managed to find a better rhythm,” he said.

The priority tonight is the usual job of exploring where we need to make changes; where we can find some gains, and where I can improve too. Hopefully we can make a step forward during final practice to be ready for qualifying.”
