Sergio Perez completed his second day of pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Thursday with the sixth best time in a day split between wet and dry running.

The Mexican completed 82 laps in his Sahara Force India F1 Team VJM10, with his best time of 1:22.534 coming on the Soft Pirelli compound, and feels that everything has gone to plan so far this week.

Perez is hoping the positive momentum continues into next weeks second test at the same circuit, with still a lot of work to be done ahead of the first race of the season in Australia later this month.

“It was a positive week and I think we made a good step forward with understanding the VJM10 and finding the limit of the tyres,” said Perez. “I feel more confident in the car; I have learnt a huge amount and I think my preparation is going to plan.

“We can be pleased with this last day of testing: we covered a lot of ground and we found some more performance. Hopefully next week we can be in even better shape.

“There is still a lot of work to be done, but I’m optimistic for Melbourne already.”
