Williams Martini Racing has partnered with Blueshift GP to create a range of artwork inspired by the team’s aerodynamic images.

Inspired by and utilising a collection of previously confidential computational fluid dynamic (CFD) imagery, the displays combine art with the technical aspect of the data to create a unique collection unlike anything seen before.

The CFD images of the FW35 and earlier show how the air flows around the cars’ structure. It is this directional behaviour that has been incorporated into the artworks.

Blueshift GP was founded in July 2016 with the sole purpose of working collaboratively with those involved in motorsports. The company strives to produce innovative design projects that take inspiration from the largely secretive nature of the industry in regards to its development of competitive cars, the processes undertaken and the materials used.

Williams is one of a few teams who can boast a long-established history in Formula One. They are the holders of nine Constructors’ and seven Drivers’ Championships, and has amassed a total of 114 victories.

The exhibition is being held at the Ransom Gallery, 105 Pimlico Road, London, SW1W 8LS from 17-31 March 2017.
