Poland’s Martin Kaczmarski joins the FIA World Rallycross Championship for the first time ever in Portugal this weekend and he is not afraid to take on the regulars.

Kaczmarski made his debut in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars last year and he ended the season in 11th place overall in the Drivers Championship. To add to that impressive performance, the Polish driver started his 2017 Euro RX season off in style as he qualified for the first Semi-Final and finished sixth in the race at the Euro RX of Spain.

Joining World RX as a full time driver is on the radar for the Polish driver and he’s looking to get to grips with the competition this weekend.

“I’ve been intensely looking forward to the 2017 season. It’s long been my dream to compete in the World Rallycross Championship,” he explained.

“Competing against some of the best drivers in the world in World RX is absolutely one of the biggest challenges in my career. I am aware of how difficult it will be, but I am as happy as a child. I will go in fighting and give 100% from myself.”

The Polish driver began his rallycross career in 2015, racing in the support category The RX2 International Series. Having moved across from cross country rallying, where he had become the Dakar Rally’s youngest debutant in 2014 and finished the event ninth overall, Kaczmarski then moved up to Euro RX in 2016.

Kaczmarski’s 2017 Rallycross programme includes racing in the five round FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars and selected rounds of World RX in Europe where he will gain more experience of the series in his ex-Olsbergs MSE Ford Fiesta Supercar.
