Felipe Massa returned to the points after the disappointment of China, putting in a strong drive during the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday to finish sixth.

The Williams Martini Racing driver managed a good start to move ahead of both Nico Hülkenberg and Kimi Raikkonen on the opening lap, and even managed to jump Daniel Ricciardo on the restart following the mid-race safety car, but ultimately dropped back behind the Red Bull Racing driver, finally finishing the race in sixth.

Massa feels like the result was an extremely positive one for the team, and felt like a victory as they finished best of the result behind the top three teams.

“I would say it was a great day and I managed to have a great race with a perfect start,” said Massa. “What a great first lap – I passed Hülkenberg and I managed to pass Kimi at corner four. I kept the tyres working in the right way and then I passed Daniel after the safety car, which was great.

“After a while, they managed to get better pace out of their tyres and jump ahead of us with the car they have. But to be honest, the position I finished today was like a victory and it’s important for the whole team.”
