Marcus Ericsson is intrigued to see how the Spanish Grand Prix weekend unfolds, especially as his Sauber F1 Team bring their first updates to their 2017 C36-Ferrari this weekend.

The Swede has yet to trouble the top ten this season, and Sauber continue to be disadvantaged by using the 2016 Ferrari power unit as opposed to the 2017 units every other team are using, which limits the development that can be achieved this season in that department.

However Ericsson is confident that upgrades to the aerodynamic package this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be beneficial to the team and prove they are heading in the right direction.

“The Spanish Grand Prix is the traditional race weekend to start the European season of Formula 1,” said Ericsson.  “We all know the Circuit de Catalunya very well, as lots of testing has been done there. At this time of the year, it will be different to winter testing as the temperatures are much higher.

“It will surely be an interesting race weekend for the fans and also for us, because all teams introduce their car updates there. We will also bring first modifications to the car, which we will then enhance and further develop within the next GPs. I am looking forward to this weekend being confident that we make another step in the right direction.”
