Former FIA World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg was a relieved man today at Hockenheim after securing his place in the semi-finals.
The PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver took a win and a second place finish on the second day of action following a tough opening day which had seen his car get driven over by Andreas Bakkerud.
“What an unbelievable turn-around!” enthused Solberg. “Even though the odds went against us yesterday, we managed to pull together from the disappointment.
“We knew what we had to do, made a great plan and followed it all the way from fourteenth position to fifth. Just one point separated us from top 4 (target), but I didn’t want to take more risk in the final qualifying heat. I’m more than happy with today and the development from day one.”
With World RX sharing the weekend with DTM the action has been spread out over three days as apposed to the usual two days. Tomorrow will see the competitors compete in the semi-finals and finals in the morning before the final DTM race of the weekend.
“Tomorrow we have one target; getting into the final with both our cars for the third time in a row. If that goes well, everything can happen!
“Please believe me when I say that!” added Solberg with a smile.
