GRT Grasser Racing Team have made it two out of two for topping the sessions at the 2017 Total 24 Hours of Spa as the times tumbled to set a fastest time of 2:19.435 in pre-qualifying with their #63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
The competitive nature of the field was proved as the second place was filled by the PRO AM #333 of Rinaldi Racing’s Ferrari 488 GT3, just 0.399 seconds away from the fastest time.
The top twelve positions lapped within 1 second of each other as they set the pace; In third place was the #9 Bentley Team ABT ahead of #75 Team ISR Audi, and the #23 Motul Team RJN Nissan. With five different brands represented at the top of the table it is looking like it could be anyone’s pole position up for grabs.
There was a small spattering of rain in the early stages of the session but it soon passed, and with the skies clearing it looks like it will remain dry in to the qualifying and night qualifying sessions.
Motul Team RJN Nissan’s #22 car splits the two Audi’s of #76 Team ISR and #2 Audi Sport Team WRT in sixth, seventh and eighth positions.
Sitting in ninth place is the first of the Rowe Racing BMW’s (#99), with the #50 AF Corse Ferrari rounding out the top ten.
Just missing out on the top ten was #55 Kaspersky Motorsport Ferrari in eleventh with #25 Audi Sport Team Sainteloc in twelfth place.
In twenty-eighth place overall was the #888 Kessel Racing Ferrari, topping the AM class with a time of 2:20.799 (only 1.344 off of the pace of the leading PRO Lamborghini).
In the battle of the two NAT class runners it was the #56 RMS Porsche that got the better of The Smurfs (or Les Schtroumpfs as they are known as in Europe!) liveried #991 SpeedLover Porsche.
