Romain Grosjean believes that Kevin Magnussen is the best team-mate he has had in Formula 1 since Fernando Alonso, who he raced with back in 2009.
Grosjean joined Alonso in the Renault F1 Team as a mid-season replacement for Nelson Piquet Jr back then, and although he was forced to wait until 2012 to make a full-time return to the sport, he has since partnered Kimi Raikkonen, Heikki Kovalainen and Pastor Maldonado at the Lotus F1 Team, and Esteban Gutierrez at the Haas F1 Team, but puts Danish driver Magnussen above all of them.
Grosjean feels many people have the wrong opinion about Magnussen, and he admits that he has surprised him as well with just how fast he is.
“Honestly, he (Magnussen) is super fast,” said Grosjean to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet. “People have had the wrong perception of him, and he has surprised me.
“He is the best team-mate I’ve had through my ‘second’ career in Formula 1.”
The two drivers have given the Haas team eight top-ten finishes between them in the first nine races, with the team sitting seventh in the championship with twenty-nine points, four points behind Scuderia Toro Rosso but eleven points ahead of the Renault Sport Formula 1 Team.
