Tom Blomqvist will make his 24 Hours of Spa debut this weekend with the defending champions, Rowe Racing.
DTM regular Blomqvist has been building on his GT experience over the last twelve months and will share driving duties in the #98 BMW M6 GT3 with Bruno Spengler and Nick Catsburg.
Blomqvist has already had a taste of the BMW, the latest came after joining the team for the Paul Ricard 1000km last month. Unfortunately the chances of grabbing a podium finish was ruined by punctures.
“It’s all been a bit last minute, and I found out at Ricard that the reason I was there was to see how I’d go with a view to doing Spa.” revealed Blomqvist.
“I’m pretty excited for it: it’s a big event and I’m looking forward to racing at Spa in something other than a Formula 3 car.”
Aside from the Paul Ricard run, Blomqvist previously helped the Schnitzer squad secure fourth place at the Nurburgring 24 Hours in May.
“I had a pretty decent run at the ‘Ring, so the goal is to go to Spa to try to win it. We have a great team, with Bruno and Nick, who are very experienced and have had great results in the past. I think that we are very well prepared and we will give our very best.”
