FIA World Rallycross regular Oliver Bennett will compete in his second Americas Rallycross event of the season at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières in Canada next weekend.
The Brit was expected to skip the Canadian event altogether, but will instead compete in the World RX-supporting ARX round after a positive debut in the American championship at Circuit of the Americas earlier this month.
“I loved the event in COTA despite some technical difficulties we had with electronics in the car between Q2 and Q4,” said Bennett. “The COTA track in the Mini was very enjoyable to drive with fast changes in direction, it suited our car well.”
“Our performance straight into Q1 was strong sitting P2 behind Ken Block until the last lap when we had the first electrical throttle fault causing the car to cut out and me to slide to a stop in the corner,” he added.
“We were fighting that issue all the way to the semifinals, where we showed we had the speed but it just wasn’t our luck that day.”
“All in all, the event was a great success, the fans are so engaging in ARX and they all loved the Mini.”
Bennett is the second so-called ‘wildcard’ entry into the event after Jacques Villeneuve who will pilot a third Subaru WRX STI for Subaru Rally Team USA.
