Kevin Magnussen heaped the praise on his team as both he and Haas F1 Team-mate Romain Grosjean qualified in the top ten.

The Danish driver lines up ninth for the Hungarian Grand Prix and was happy with the result.

“I’m not disappointed with P9 and P10.”

Haas have been battling to be the best of the rest this season and Magnussen admitted that if the conditions were dry they would have wanted more but, in the rain, the Dane was pleased the team got the big decisions right to get them through to Q3.

“We had hoped for a little bit more, in dry conditions at least, but in those tricky conditions the team did a very good job to stay calm, put us on the right tires, and send us out at the right time.

“It’s so easy to make the wrong decision in those conditions, and there’s a lot of pressure on the team in that situation.”

Magnussen continued to credit the team and explained that when the conditions are like they were in qualifying, the team play a much bigger role to help the driver.

“In the dry, they send us out and we have to do the job.

“But in the wet, it’s really down to them and they did the right thing.

“So, good job to them.”
