The first practice ahead of the seventieth edition Total 24 Hours of Spa saw sixty-three cars hit the track with the Montaplast by Land #29 Audi topping the time sheets with Kelvin van der Linde setting a fastest time of 2:20.865 around the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
While van der Linde was fastest during the session, there is still plenty of pace to be found as the time was 3.5 seconds away from the pole time set by James Calado last year.
Best of the rest during the ninety-minute session was the #84 Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter machine of Renger van der Zande which beat the #34 ROWE Racing BMW M6 GT3 by just two thousandths of a second.
The top twenty cars were covered by just over a second, indicating that it is set to be an extremely competitive race weekend.
Outside of the Pro cars it was the #28 Daiko Lazarus Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 who was the fastest as they ended the practice session in sixth place overall.
Pro-Am was headed up by the #53 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 with a time good enough for ninth overall while the Am Cup saw the #89 AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 go fastest. GDL Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo machine was fastest in Group National
The next session will see drivers take to the circuit at 18:10 local time for a one-hour pre-qualifying session. Qualifying will start at 20:50 local time where twenty-first through to sixty-third positions will be set.
