Antonio Giovinazzi, the test driver for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team, has said he was “very happy” with the results of the second day of in-season testing in Hungary.

The Italian set a fastest lap time of 1:17.558, placing him fourth on the grid, running the hypersoft tyre.  He ran a total of one-hundred-and-twenty laps during the course of the day of testing after switching to Sauber after running day one with Scuderia Ferrari.

“I am very happy with how the day went,”said Giovinazzi.  “It was good to be back in the car after completing Free Practice 1 with the Sauber F1 Team last week, and spending a day of testing with Ferrari yesterday.

“With a full day in the C37, I feel very comfortable and have learnt a lot about its behaviour on track.  We completed the planned programme which was our target, so I am very pleased.”

The team will be hoping to use the data collected over these two days of testing to help develop the car for the rest of the season, with the final European leg of the season starting at Spa-Francochomps in Belgium at the end of August.  However, all ten teams on the grid will now be forced to shut down their operations during the summer break.

“The team has done a fantastic job in developing the car,” added Giovinazzi.  “With the data we collected today, they can hopefully continue to work in that direction.

“I look forward to being in the car again.”
