Hours after announcing that they had parted ways with Jerome Grosset-Janin for the rest of the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship, GC Kompetition have confirmed that the “British Bomb” Liam Doran will return to World RX action.
The former British Rallycross Champion and FIA European Rallycross Championship event winner will drive the second Prodrive built Renault Megane RS RX for the 2018 World RX of France alongside Team Owner Guerlain Chicherit.
Doran expressed his excitement to be returning to action in World RX this weekend.
“I am excited to be back racing WRX and with GCK. This is a great opportunity and I really can not express how happy I am getting back behind the wheel,” explained the “British Bomb”.
“I am confident in the car and Loheac is one of my favorite tracks, so hopefully we can put together a good result! “
Doran has already been in action this year after lodging a late entry for the opening round of the Americas Rallycross Championship, where he took his iconic Citroen DS3 to third place in Supercar Final of the opening round at Silverstone during the Speedmachine Festival.
With Doran joining the fledgling outfit in its first year of World RX competition, GC Kompetition Team Manager Karl O’Sullivan is thrilled to have Doran onboard.
“Being able to find a driver of such experience, and such tenacity as Liam, to join Guerlain in Lohéac will be extremely beneficial for any the team. We look forward to welcoming Liam to the team and are excited to have both drivers for testing over the next few days before Lohéac,” said O’Sullivan.
“Lohéac RX is the home race of the team, it is extremely important to us and we want to make sure that we are able to offer our fans the best experience and incredible races for their entertainment. “
