2016 Formula Renault NEC runner-up Max Defourny has announced he will return to the BRDC British F3 Championship for the Donington Park round in two weeks.
The Belgian, who picked up seven wins while in Formula Renault series, made his F3 debut at the end of July, competing in the Spa-Francorchamps round. Though he had his weekend cut short after a shunt at Raidillon in the opening race damaged the car for the remainder of the weekend.
With the car now repaired, he will return to the Douglas Motorsport team for the weekend of 22-23 September.
“I’m very excited to be back for Donington,” Defourny commented. “I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do to help the team, and we’ve been working on the car in testing at Silverstone to see how we can improve the car and do the best for the team.”
“I’ve not driven at Donington before, so I’m looking forward to seeing how things go there and how the track is. I hear it’s quite a fun track so I’m looking forward to it.”
Defourny, like many of the F3 field have been testing at Silverstone recently, with the 19-year-old reportedly feeling positive about the car. While his experience will be vital for the team, he will almost certainly be a threat for race wins come Donington, after picking up a sixth in qualifying at Spa, despite having only had the practice sessions to adapt to the car.
“There’s a few different things on this car compared to others that I’ve driven before, and some nice features. It’s a nice car, stabilised between the front and rear and it’s nice to drive.”
Defourny will be preparing for 2019, after pulling out of the Eurocup earlier this year.
