Maurizio Arrivabene heralded an impressive display of determination from Scuderia Ferrari during the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday as Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen both stood on the podium at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Those results, coupled with the fourth and fifth places for the Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport team, means there is a continued interest in the Constructors’ Championship heading into the penultimate round of the season in Brazil next month, although Vettel’s chances of taking the Drivers’ title are over after Lewis Hamilton secured that crown in Mexico when he crossed the line in fourth.

Vettel and Räikkönen both made progress after difficult Qualifying performances on Saturday to finish second and third behind Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen, and Arrivabene praised the hard work both trackside and back at the factory in Italy for turning around their fortunes on race day.

“Today’s result reflects the determination of the entire team, after a less than ideal qualifying on a track where aerodynamic downforce and tyre management are fundamentally important,” said Arrivabene. “Seb and Kimi both drove great races.

“Thanks to the efforts of the team, both here at the track and back in Maranello, the Constructors’ Championship is still undecided and the team has closed the points gap over the past two races. We are therefore determined to fight all the way to the finish, starting with the next GP in Brazil.

“Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton on his fifth Drivers’ World Championship title.”
