PREMA Racing are another big name which are to join the new FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2019.

The team has enjoyed great success in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship since its revival in 2012.

Over the past seven seasons they have won six of the seven Drivers’ Championships and all seven Teams’ Championships.

Following a successful 2018 in which they took the driver, team and rookie titles the Italian squad has opted to join the new era of F3.

With the new series also forming part of the Formula One support bill it makes sense as the team have a FIA Formula 2 team which has guided Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc to the championship and into F1.

Team Principal, René Rosin, said: “We are very proud to join the 2019 FIA Formula 3 ranks. Given our successful history in F3 racing, and our commitment towards promoting and developing the skills of young talented drivers, joining this brand-new challenge from the beginning seemed like a logical step to us. We will do our utmost to succeed in this new endeavour and we can’t wait for the 2019 season to start.”

The team will receive the first of the new cars in January and will line-up with a three-driver effort at the start of the 2019 season.
