Day-to-night Abu Dhabi race ‘doesn’t make any difference’ to drivers – Stroll

Lance Stroll has described the Yas Marina Circuit as “spectacular” as the Canadian finishes his second season with Williams Martini Racing.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is “unique” due to it starting in the day and ending at night and Stroll believes it is a great way to finish of the season.

“I think it is a good race to end the season, as we drive into the night, which is cool,” Stroll said.

“It is quite spectacular what they have done with the place, and it is certainly unique.”

It’s the Williams driver’s second trip to Abu Dhabi and he admits he is not the biggest fan of the Yas Marina Circuit as he feels it does not have a good flow to it. On his first visit to Abu Dhabi last year, the 20-year-old was the final classified finisher in eighteenth.

The transition from day to night is something that is unique to Abu Dhabi but Stroll says that it does not make any difference to the drivers.

The circuit itself wouldn’t be my favourite as it is very stop and go and doesn’t have a great flow to it, but, despite that, the show is good for the fans,” he added.

“From a driver’s point of view, driving at day or night doesn’t make any difference as for us it is just pedal to the metal.”

With the news of Robert Kubica‘s promotion to a full-time seat for 2019, Stroll’s time as a Williams driver has come to a close. The Canadian is expected to join the Racing Point Force India F1 Team in place of Esteban Ocon.
