M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver Elfyn Evans admitted after Kennards Hire Rally Australia that his season didn’t go how he wanted, but hopes he’ll “have a chance to prove his speed again next season.”
Evans alongside co-driver Daniel Barritt ended up sixth at the end of last weekend’s event after giving now-six time World Champion Sébastien Ogier a better road position, much to their own disadvantage.
The Welshman said on the final round of the season: “Congratulations to Seb, Julien (Ingrassia) and the whole team. I’m glad they were able to secure this one and – even though it wasn’t always easy – I’m glad we were able to help them where we could.”
“Obviously for various reasons our season didn’t go the way we wanted it to, but the speed was there and hopefully we’ll have a chance to prove that again next year.”
Evans’ pace at times where he wasn’t having to sweep the road for drivers behind him was strong as he set several fast times in the Ford Fiesta WRC.
